Season 1
The Central Fire and Rescue Station 2 is the heart of the Gelsenkirchen fire department. For five months, the firefighters were accompanied in their everyday work as they responded to fires, technical assistance and medical emergencies.
Firefighters in Gelsenkirchen respond to fires, technical assistance and medical emergencies on around 39,000 missions a year, more than 100 times a day. In order to ensure the greatest possible authenticity, Fire & Flame does not provide comment text. A total of ten of the approximately 100 firefighters from Station 2 have their say during and after their operations. This creates a genuine image of these “everyday heroes” that shows courage and determination as well as thoughtfulness and compassion.

Whether extinguishing a fire in a rubbish-filled apartment, during operations by the special diving unit or during rescue after traffic accidents on the motorway - up to 20 cameras were on site at the same time.

The Gelsenkirchen fire department is called to a traffic accident to secure an accident vehicle. But once on site it quickly becomes clear that there is more to it than just fire protection measures.

Explosion in Schalke - an apartment is completely on fire, rescue operations: suspected heart attack and water damage in a private apartment.

Christmas and New Year's Eve with the fire department! Also: A fox has to be caught, a traffic accident involving a heavily pregnant woman and a safe in the canal is recovered by the diving group.
