While newsreel cameras were filming political events and world leaders in the 30s, a new breed of amateur film makers were using new, light weight, film cameras and sometimes colour film to capture everyday life in those extraordinary times.

This is WWIl in a way that's hardly been seen, through the film cameras of some home movie enthusiasts who filmed their friends, family and neighbours as they struggled with a war that was fought on the home front as well as the battle fronts.

As Britain recovered from war and the economy began to flourish, home movie makers captured a country that was changing.
