In this very first episode, we will offer you a short story what maiko is all about. Maiko are actually still in training. Girls hoping to become Geiko who've mastered arts like dance and the shamisen, are called maiko. Let's visit their home ground, Kagai (or flower districts) in Kyoto!

This time we look at how a maiko gets made up. A maiko's appearance is completely transformed as she develops over time. We will focus on the things that makeover maiko, from their makeup to costume, accessories and footwear.

This time, we'll focus on Aomori Prefecture, the hometown of the main characters, Kiyo and Sumire. Aomori is about 1,000 kilometers away from Kyoto Prefecture, and you can find unexpected cultural similarities between the 2 places. Let's take a closer look at its secrets.
